Urban Arts Space is a community-engaged art gallery located in Columbus, Ohio focused on challenging perceptions, deepening learning, and increasing access to the arts. While interning at Urban Arts Space, I developed several designs to further this mission through marketing and visual communication. These designs ranged from branded merchandise to printed materials.

The new Urban Arts Space merchandise features two tote bags and one hoodie. The design is based on our branding guidelines and focused more on simplicity and messaging. In addition to these chosen apparel items, I developed an annual intern tote bag design contest. This was created with the goals creating limited edition merchandise while also featuring intern artwork, diversifying our brand identity, and bringing creativity into our merchandise. Some initial ideas for the tote bag design contest are included below.

bookmark for the artist commune journal launch
The Artist Commune Journal is an annual community arts publication that reconsiders accessibility in arts research and community engagement. Led by Urban Arts Space, the Commune hopes to feature work from artists within the Columbus community, arts organizations across Central Ohio, and arts-based researchers at The Ohio State University. By showcasing diverse voices and perspectives, Urban Art Space aims to cultivate a stronger sense of community and understanding within Columbus and beyond. The first issue of the Artist Commune Journal themed around Care/Culture/Justice, and I designed this bookmark in connection to those themes. This bookmark along with others were given out at the Artist Commune Journal Launch Party.
